Math 2
¨Great things never came from comfort zones.¨
This page is to display my progress throughout math my sophomore year.
Coming into my math class this year was scary for me, I thought that I wouldn't be able to catch on to what I was being taught and I have a fear of failing. My fear made it hard for me to try out ways to solve a problem because it might not be right. This year our math teacher had each of us set up a goal for us to work on throughout the whole year. My goal was to develop my ability to experiment in math. Making this goal and reflecting on how I was doing during the year really helped me make progress. Now I feel more confident with trying out problems on my own even if I get them wrong. This year has been one of my most positive experiences in math class. I really enjoyed working with my group mates and I made so much progress with my goal. One of my favorite moments in math would be when we had been working on similarity for a while but it just looked like a bunch of letters and numbers to me and I didn't really understand it but one day something clicked and I understood the formula, where to plug what it, how to make an equation to help me figure out the missing information and I felt like I could now give a lesson on what I was learning. |
QuadraticsIn this unit I learned a lot more about graphing and the equations that come with it. I pushed myself to have more than just a basic understanding of it.
|
ProbabilityWhile learning about probability I learned more about card games and how they are arranged in the dealer's or the casino's favor.
|
SimilarityIn this unit I learned to not just accept that two shapes and similar but to prove or disprove it and how to do so.
